Safety 1st Prime AP Suitability
Toddler Mode.
- To be used in forward-facing position with built-in harness from approx. 6 months to approx. 4 years of age or until the child’s shoulders reach the middle shoulder height marker.
Booster Mode.
- To be used with a lap-sash seat belt from approx. 4 years of age to approx. 8 years of age or until child’s shoulders reach the upper shoulder height marker.

The seat arrived and I was immediately impressed with how much narrower than many seats it is without compromising space for the child. It saves so much space on our back seat we are thinking of buying a second to swap out my older sons perfectly good seat as we would have a lot more room for three seats when needed although we can fit three now anyway getting your hand between them to clip them in can be hard. My 2yr 9month old is tall for his age so he is already out of the seat insert and has the five point harness at the highest point but I am hoping to get at least another 6 months out of it before we have to use just the seat belt to restrain him as he is still so young. But given that he is very tall and in fact almost the same height as his 5yr old cousin I think this car seat allows for even the tallest 3yr old to be restrained using the 5 point harness comfortably. Obviously I have not tested it in a crash but it does exactly what we need it to do without any fuss, is easy to install and looks easy to clean although I haven’t done that yet. I am glad we are on the highest point of the strap adjustment already though as moving the straps is a manual job, unlike the luxury of the Maxi Cosi self adjusting straps, not difficult at all as we had to change to set it up but a lot more faffy than just tilt and lift, making it a little harder to use the seat for other children should you need to give someone a lift etc. Overall I love this product enough to recommend it and to purchase another it does exactly what it advertises with the minimum fuss and space.
