About Matchstick Monkey

Matchstick Monkey was born out of necessity when new mum, Katie Windridge, struggled to soothe her baby Minnie’s teething pain. After countless sleepless nights and sore fingers from applying teething gel, Katie realised there had to be a better solution.
 
Inspired by Minnie’s love of monkeys, she designed the first Matchstick Monkey teether – combining soft, baby-safe materials with easy-to-hold shapes. In December 2016, with the backing of Touker Suleyman from BBC’s Dragon’s Den, Matchstick Monkey officially launched.
 
Since then, Matchstick Monkey has grown into an international success story, selling in over 50 countries. The brand continues to innovate with new products, like their Baby Electric Sonic Toothbrush, to support oral care and teething from infancy onwards.
 
Every product is rigorously tested to the highest standards and reviewed by real parents. Matchstick Monkey has received multiple accolades, including the Baby Innovation Award and Junior Design Awards in 2022, and the Mother & Baby Awards in 2025.
