What age is it best suited and how do I introduce this to my older baby?
This sleep aid is most effective from 0-6 months. We have also had success up to 2 years of age, depending on the toddler. The earlier the it is introduced the more likelihood of success. It is not recommended for an older baby to have it up as loud as their cries. Ideally, it should initially be introduced with other regular bedtime routines until baby becomes familiar with the rhythmic shush.
For how long can I use it with my baby?
We’ve seen the this sleep aid be effective all the way up to 18 months old, however the optimum is from birth to 12 months.
Where should the speaker be pointed?
The direction of the rhythmic shush sound is VERY important. In order for baby to hear and engage with the rhythmic shush, the sound waves should be travelling TOWARD baby’s ears (and not away). This means that speaker on the bottom of your Shusher should be pointed toward your baby. (whether in bassinet, in car seat, in stroller, while you are holding baby)
How close in proximity should I put it to my baby?
It is important that the Shusher is within two feet of baby’s hearing radius. As a result, it will ensure that baby hears the rhythmic shush above their own cry and engages the natural calming reflex. The Shusher’s rhythmic shush can easily get lost if simply set on the dresser across the room from cot.
What is the difference between the Baby Shusher and White Noise?
The first goal of the Shusher is to stop your baby from crying and not to simply provide soothing background noise such white noise. Remember, your baby is used to constantly hearing noises in utero at volumes up to 95 dBs (which is like a very loud vacuum cleaner). Our recommendation is to start the Shusher at a volume loud enough to catch baby’s attention during a cry spell and engage baby’s calming reflex. Then turn the volume down on the rhythmic shush to match baby’s calming state. The shusher has a 30 min or 15 minute timer and is not intended to run constantly through your baby’s sleeping period, however white noise can be used alongside the Shusher to provide the perfect sleeping environment.

Purchased this product out of desperation. 7 wo wpuld not fall asleep unless in my arms. Everytime i lay her down in the cot she would wake up again. Had enough sore arms n no sleep so i took a chance. First night i feed then laid her down turned the shusher on and to my suprised she fell asleep in 10mins. Been using it for last 3 days so far so good. Highly recommended

In all honesty my husband thought I was being tech savy lazy when I told him about the baby shusher but it works wonders. We use it mainly in the cot but being portable is a bonus. Really calms our little guy and I definitely recommend.

This product is relatively cheap, easy to use and transportable. It puts both my baby and husband to sleep – bonus! Haven’t used it when bub is really upset as yet but think it will be good as a back up to other methods of soothing.
