At the heart of the mattress is a coir fibre mat. Coir comes from coconut husks and is cleaned, dried and coated with a natural latex solution to make the coir more supportive and breathable. The fibres act like thousands of natural springs to provide support. Coir fibre is also naturally mothproof with anti-bacterial and anti-dust mite properties making it safe for baby’s developing respiratory system.

In true bertini style, the mattress is beautifully covered in 100% unbleached cotton quilted with pure lamb's wool. Wool fibres are a natural climate zone - cool in summer and warm in winter - so baby stays dry and comfortable all night long.

The breathability of wool also prevents moisture build-up and helps the body to self regulate its temperature, which is perfect as babies are very temperature sensitive and can overheat while sleeping.  Wool helps baby to maintain a body temperature that promotes sleep.
